You can now enable 280 character Tweets and Tweetstorm feature on your rooted Android devices. It could be easily done using the Tweeks Xposed module.
We have been pondering upon a rumor related to Twitter for a long time now. It has been in stories that Twitter is working on universally increasing the generic 140 character tweets and doubling it to 280. But the feature has been talked to be in a development/testing phase. But, if you’re using a rooted Android device, you can enable 280 Character tweets and Tweetstorm feature, which is basically a series of related tweets posted in succession.

Enable 280 Character Tweets and Tweetstorm using Tweeks Xposed Module
Users have been curious about these two features which have been in a testing phase, recently. One, the character expansion from 140 to 280 will be a relief for many, who want to write a bit more in their tweets. The feature has been reportedly enabled for several users, but not just for everyone yet. Since there is already a workaround to enable this feature on desktop clients, it feels as if the switch is already turned on Twitter’s server. But it’s yet to be switched on for the user’s front end.
Another cool feature to extend your tweets and make them feel more connected in one writing is possible through the Tweetstorm feature. It’s like sending a bunch of relevant tweets at once, for better readability experience on both ends. But this feature is also one that is hidden and could not simply be enabled through the app settings.
In order to have 280 character tweets and Tweetstorm features enabled in your Twitter app, all you need is Xposed Framework and a dedicated module for the job. We will be using the Tweeks Xposed module for this.
According to the module developer – Alex193a, this module only works with some specific versions of the official Twitter client.
To enable 280 character tweets and Tweetstorm feature, you must first install Xposed framework on your Android device. Follow the links below to do it:
Download and Activate Tweeks Xposed Module
Once you have successfully set up the Xposed framework on your rooted Android, you will then need to download and install the Tweeks Xposed module.
- Open the Xposed Installer app from the app drawer.
- Swipe out the app menu from the left-edge of the screen and select “Download”.
- Scroll down or search for the “Tweeks” module. If you wish to manually download the module, you can grab it from the Xposed Repository page.
- Swipe to the “VERSIONS” tab.
- Then tap on the “Download” button corresponding to the latest module version available (e.g. 1.0.1).
- The Tweeks Xposed module will automatically download and will prompt you for installation.
- So follow the on-screen instructions.
Once you have installed the module, you will need to activate it so that you can enable 280 character tweets and Tweetstorm features in the Twitter app.
In the Xposed Installer app, swipe from the left edge of the app screen to open the menu. Then select “Modules”. You shall now see the “Tweeks” module installed. Just select the checkbox next to it, to activate the module. Finally, reboot your device.
Enable 280 Character Tweets and Tweetstorm Feature on Rooted Android Devices
Note that we simply installed and activated the module above. We have yet to enable 280 characters tweets and Tweetstorm feature. Just relaunch the Twitter app for the changes to take effect.
So, go to the app drawer and launch the “Tweeks” module app. The settings are extremely simple, you shall see two toggles for the corresponding features. All you need to do is turn on the toggles to enable 280 character tweets and Tweetstorm features.
Now, close the module app and relaunch (close and open again) the Twitter app on your Android. The stated settings have now been turned on for you, go ahead and try them.
Tap on the new tweet icon on the bottom-right. You shall see that the character counter is now removed, instead, it has been replaced with a circular graphic counter. View the images above for more accurate reference.
Also, if you want to send a series of multiple tweets altogether, you can simply tap on the rounded “+” icon in the tweet editor window. Then write another tweet and so on. Finally, once you are ready to send out all the tweets, press the “Tweet All” button.
Simple enough? So, that’s how you can enable 280 character tweets and Tweetstorm feature on your rooted Android. If you have any doubts while enabling these features, kindly ping us through the comments or our social channels.
