People who have already bought the Pixel 3 XL would either be in favor of the big notch or might just have overlooked it for the tremendous new features. But if you are still on the brink of buying it, then we do have some good news for you. You can now hide the Google Pixel 3 XL notch.
Display Notches aren’t the most attractive elements of a phone design, but many of us have accepted them. And then there are others who literally are digging ways to get rid of it. Well, many Android manufacturers do allow a user to hide the notch (Also referred to as the ‘Display Cutout’). But that doesn’t mean you get the privilege to actually remove it from the phone physically.
Rather, a toggle is available in the device settings, which when turned on, blacks out the complete area on both sides of the notch. Manufacturers like Xiaomi, Essential, OnePlus, etc already offer this feature in the phone’s settings. But that’s not the case with the new Pixel phone.
When a Twitter user (Malteezer) asked Google whether it is possible to hide the notch on the Pixel 3 XL, providing an example of the Poco F1, Google had the following reply.
With the Google Pixel 3 XL, you will need to take a few extra steps in order to hide the notch. – @madebygoogle
It’s quite clear the Google didn’t actually tell how to do it. But people who already had the chance to get their hands on the device, like AndroidAuthority, have already dug in and found the option to help you hide Google Pixel 3 XL notch.
