Huawei Mate 20 Lite with Quad-Cameras and 6.3 Inches Screen is Official

In past few weeks, we have seen Huawei Mate 20 Lite in several leaked renders that gave us an early look on the smartphone ahead of the launch. Now, Huawei has silently and officially announced the Mate 20 Lite in Poland, as the youngest member of the Mate 20 series.


The Huawei Mate 20 Lite is already up for pre-order in Polish and German websites. That’s not a surprise, as Huawei Mate 10 Lite is one of the best selling mid-range smartphones in these two countries. The Mate 20 Lite is packed with pretty impressive specifications, that makes it a cheaper alternative to the current flagships. Some Polish websites have already made a hands-on video of the phone that shows off a live unit for the first time and gives us a clear insight into what the device actually looks.

Design & Display

Huawei Mate 20 Lite Display


The Huawei Mate 20 Lite sports a 6.3-inches (19:5:9) display that produces an FHD+ resolution of 1080 × 2340 pixels along with a pixel density of 409 PPI. The Mate 20 Lite boasts a double-sided 2.5D curved glass in order to provide a more premium finish. It has a notch on the top of the display that houses dual front cameras, earpiece, and some other components. In addition, the phone has achieved an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 81% compared to the 76.5% in its predecessor. It is 7.6mm thick and weighs 172 grams.

The Mate 20 Lite has a 2.5D curved glass back, that shows off beautiful reflections when the light hits the surface. The back of the device features a vertically aligned dual camera setup with a fingerprint sensor below the camera lens. The overall appearance of the smartphone is quite similar to the Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design, which also had a vertically arranged rear camera with some vertical stripes.


In terms of performance, the Mate 20 Lite is closely related to the Huawei P Smart+ or Nova 3i, as these phones also share a common processor. The Mate 20 Lite is powered by newly unveiled Octa-Core Kirin 710 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB ROM. The internal storage can be further expanded via a MicroSD card up to 256GB. In addition, the phone is fueled by a 3,750 mAh battery with support for 9V/2A fast charging.

In terms of the camera department, the Mate 20 Lite is a quad-camera loaded device. At the back, the Mate 20 Lite is equipped with a 20MP primary sensor, with F/1.8 aperture. It has a 2MP secondary sensor for depth-effects. For taking selfies, it has a 24MP+2MP dual-camera combination, equipped with features like AI scene recognition, real-time HDR mode and so on.


The phone comes pre-loaded with EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The version of Android is not the latest one, but we hope it will be upgraded to the Android 9 Pie very soon. Huawei has already announced the list of devices that will get this update, we dearly hope it to be updated with the Mate 20 Lite included.

In addition, the phone has a USB 2.0 Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack for connectivity. The phone is equipped with GPU Turbo technology, aiming to improve the user gaming experience. In addition, it is also equipped with features like Qmoji, Face unlock and NFC.

Huawei Mate 20 Lite Color Variants

The Huawei Mate 20 Lite is available in three color variants, which are Black, Blue, and Gold. As we have mentioned earlier, the phone is already up for pre-sale with a price tag of PLN 1599 (~€374). The smartphone will go on sale from 9th of September in Poland and is already available for pre-orders on the official website.
