LG Candy will be available in India tomorrow for INR. 6,999 ($98)

Aug 31, 2018 • by J.K Walker

LG launched its affordable smartphone “Candy” in India. The smartphone sells for INR. 6,999 ($98) and will be available in retail outlets all across India starting tomorrow, September 1.

The LG Candy will feature a 5.0-inch 720p IPS LCD display. Not 18:9, but interestingly, it is an On-cell technology. That means, the touch sensor in integrated directly unto LCD panel rather than adding a digitizer on top. The handset runs under an unmentioned 1.3GHz quad-core processor, probably Mediatek, and is coupled with 2GB of RAM. The internal storage will be a minuscule 16GB, which users can expand up to 32GB. The battery rates at a decent 2,500mAh. And it’s removable.

“LG Candy smartphone is focused on delivering even more value to consumers looking for the right device that fits their lifestyle and needs,” Business Head-Mobiles, LG India, Advait Vaidya said on the event.

“We’re confident to capture the hearts and minds of consumers in the fast-moving market with our Candy smartphone, its beautiful covers, camera technology and other convenient features,” he added.

On the imaging, one can expect decent photos from the LG Candy. The selfie camera is a 5-megapixel sensor, while graces the rear is an 8-megapixel camera. It will come with LG camera perks like Auto Shot, Gesture Shot, Flash for Selfie, and Quick Share. LG also stress the low-light capture capability of the device, but we shouldn’t expect an output anything above its price. Additionally, the company is adding the Flash Jump Shot, which allows users to capture a series of photos and stitch it together as GIFs. It works on both the front and rear cameras.

Unlike other smartphones at this price range, the LG Candy comes with full-fledged Android. However, customers opting for this device should decide whether Android 7.1.2 Nougat is still worthy. Furthermore, the device is following the re-entry of interchangeable back covers. Unfortunately, there were only three colors available as of now: Blue, Gold, and Silver.

As mentioned, the LG Candy will be available for sale starting tomorrow in retail outlets across India.
