Xiaomi Pocophone F1 Unboxing Video Leaked Ahead of Official Launch

Xiaomi along with its sub-brand ‘Poco’ is all set to launch its upcoming smartphone – ‘Pocophone F1’, which will be a flagship smartphone at a very affordable and effective price point. We have already seen ‘Pocophone F1’ in different leaks and rumors, but this time, a new unboxing video of the smartphone has appeared online that reveal its design and much of its details.


The Pocophone F1 unboxing video was uploaded and published by GSMDome.com on YouTube. We are still not sure how he managed to get his hands on the device, even well ahead of the official launch. Anyhow, it still looks to be the original Pocophone F1, that we have been talking about for quite some time now.

As per the details shared by the person who unboxed the ‘Pocophone F1’, it has a large 5.99-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display, that has a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display is curved at the corners, identical to the Pixel 2 XL’s, but with a larger degree of curve. It also carries a notch on the top of the screen. Surprisingly, the source also said that the Pocophone F1 has a plastic polycarbonate body, which is quite unusual and something we didn’t expect from a regular flagship-spec’ed smartphone.

On the back, there are two cameras aligned vertically in the center of the body, and just below them, the fingerprint scanner is placed.

The major stand up point for Pocophone F1 is that it is powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. It has 6GB of RAM along with 128GB of Internal storage that can be expanded via microSD card. The phone also packs a massive 4,000 mAh battery with the support for Qualcomm’s quick charge 3.0. It is also equipped with an infrared (IR) sensor for more secure Face unlock. The overall specs of the smartphone are quite impressive which could make it a true flagship smartphone.

According to the video, the smartphone has a 12MP primary camera with a 5MP secondary camera with features like AI camera, Portrait, and HDR mode. It has a 20MP front shooter with the support of beautifying group selfies. The Pocophone F1 can shoot videos in upto 4K resolution and can record slow-motion videos at 240 frames-per-second (FPS).

The smartphone operated in the video can be seen running on MIUI 9 out of the box even it is about 2 months since the MIUI 10 was announced. That certainly means that there’s a very very rare chance of Android Pie arriving with the Pocophone F1 out-of-the-box. It will most probably be running MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

As per a tweet, the new Pocophone F1 will be launched in India during an event on the 22nd of August. The strong point of this smartphone will be its powerful specs in an affordable pricing, which is currently expected to be under $500. It is yet to be known whether the phone will be limited to a few selected regions, or will be available globally.

As you can see in the video, the outer cover of the box is in a minimalistic black design with a bright yellow colored box housing the phone. All the in-box contents include – 1 Pocophone F1 unit, 1 silicon translucent phone cover, 1 USB wall-charger, 1 USB Type-C to USB-A charging cable, and a SIM ejection tool.
