  1. I have crDroidAndroid-7.1.2 (lineage_kltevzw), Magisk-v18.1, SELinux.Switch (set to permissive), and BusyBox 1.29.2 pro. When I select ‘Driver Status’ I see driver version, Status ‘normal’, Processing ‘No’. I start Viper and enable headset and hear no change what so ever. I am guessing that it is not processing anything because in Magisk-Superuser I do not see Viper having root access. Do you have any idea why? Is their a path that Viber is using to look for BusyBox? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    1. Hi Jose. Since you have Magisk, there is a much easier method to install ViPER4Android on your device. You can download the latest version and install it using the instructions in this guide.

Before you head to the guide, make sure that you completely uninstall the current V4A installation from the device.

  2. Hi, I’m on Lineage 14.1 and I’ve installed V4A successfully on my Moto G (osprey). I rooted my device (flashed Lineage su add-on), installed busybox and SELinux switch (set SeLinux to permissive was the only way to give V4A root permissions). Can I uninstall any of those apps / revert those changes now or do I need to keep them in my phone? In other words, which apps/settings were only needed for the installation and which ones are needed to let V4A do its job? Thanks in advance!

    1. Hi! Each and every one of them is needed – Root + Busybox + Permissive SELinux.

    2. Thank you for your help, I got it working with no problems. I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind pointing me where to ask how to change file permissions for ‘/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml’ no matter what I have done I can not change the file to write (I am trying to add a couple lines so I can write to the external sd card). I’ve asked on stackexchange but no help. Please feel free to delete this post as I know its off subject. Again many thanks

    3. Hi again, Jose. You can use any root file manager to do it. Could you please explain a bit on why do you want to do it? I mean what exactly are you trying to achieve by doing it?

  3. I can’t uninstall the old version please help me with it after i tap on uninstall it stucks and asks to reboot but there after it is not uninstalled

    1. Hi Ashutosh, how exactly are you trying to uninstall it? Via the V4A app interface or by going to device settings -> apps?

  4. Hello.

With the LineAge OS 14.1 (nougat 7.1) I havec faced always the same problem whatever solutions I’ve found in the internet. (this include)
I install the driver (without any error) and after the reboot, when I open Viper4android, he asked me to install it another time.

The only solution that I’ve found is :
    – uninstall busybox
    – uninstall my previous root (SuperSU) under TRWP
    – root my device with Magisk under TRWP
    – install Magisk manager
    – download the last release of viper4android in Magisk manager
    – install the “original” version when prompt during install
    – Switch off “audioFX”

Really happy because, with this method, my favorite app run perfectly, and moreover, I’ve discovered a really well made app (Magisk)

    1. Hi Antonie, thank you for sharing your experience with us. The error you faced prior to this is due to BusyBox. I should update this tutorial with the same method. As a matter of fact, I am using the same method on my Pixel 2 XL running Android 9 Pie. The module you are talking about works flawlessly.

    1. Hello, to uninstall: Remove “ViPER4Android_FX_v2505_A7.x_Nougat_IO_test_fix.apk” from /system/priv-app. Then rename “audio_effects.conf.bak” back to “audio_effects.conf”. Finally reboot.

  5. Hi sir why does it prompt a driver installation failed regarding the busybox even though i have the updated version of it? What should i do i have followed the steps thoroughly thanks!

    1. Hi Jayz, are you sure that you renamed “audio_effects.conf” in /vendor/etc?

Or, you can attempt the solution provided by Rumple Stiltskin just below this comment.

  6. Also, if Viper4 Android still doesn’t work, try copying that audio_effects.conf file to your system/etc folder, then renaming the original in the /vendor/etc folder to .bak. You will have two audio_effects files, the original in system/etc, the other in system/vendor/etc which will be renamed with the .bak extension. That has worked on both my Google and Nvidia Shield tablets.

    1. Thank you for sharing your experience here with other users. It will surely assist several to find the solution to their problems. Much appreciated!
