Nokia is ahead of several leading Android manufacturers when it comes to software updates. The company has emerged as an example of how OEMs should handle OS updates for their devices. The company’s Nokia 7 Plus was one of the few devices to get Android Pie Dev Preview. Following the Pie update for Nokia 7 Plus, the company has recently started rolling out Android Pie for the Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus.

Both the phones were released this year, placed in the mid-range price segment. While both of them came with Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, the Nokia 6.1 Plus had an upper hand being a part of the Android One program. Unlike the Nokia 6.1 Plus, the Nokia 6.1 never received any Beta update and directly made the jump to stable Android Pie software a few days ago. Right after that, the Nokia 6.1 Plus too got the Android Pie update.

    1. Hi James. The first thing to try is to manually install the November incremental OTA package via stock recovery. You can get the package from here and follow the instructions in this post on how to install it.

Make sure that you rename the file after download it to “”.

    2. Please give stock recovery app link and procedure Too it helps a lot

  2. I have done everything the steps says but the 4th step takes me to a device info page and says “service is running” and nothing happens.
The 6th step says ” file not found”….. What am I not doing right?

    1. Hi Gordan. There are two things that could have gone wrong here:

      1) Proper filename: In step #1 you will see the corresponding filenames that you have to use. Please make sure that you download the correct OTA for your device and then rename the file accordingly.

      2) Placed file in the wrong location: The final renamed OTA package must be placed on the root of the internal storage. “Root” is basically the topmost level of the storage hierarchy. In simple words, simply connect your phone to the PC, open the internal storage and just paste the file in there. Do not move the file to any folders.
